Project Description
This exciting, large-scale refurbishment to this upmarket, trendy hotel in Cape Town city centre was executed under extremely tight deadlines, while the hotel was fully operational.
In order to successfully deliver this project on time and to the required specification, our team tackled all the phases simultaneously, with all available methods of access.
The works comprised of:
- full Asbestos roof removal and replacement, undertaken in a 48 hour period, to reduce any downtime and weather damage
- the Asbestos roof was replaced with new steel kliplock roof system
- full external structural repairs, including spalling concrete, joint sealing and waterproofing
- application of a high-quality paint system to the hotel’s unique colour codes
All areas were accessed with a combination of rope access, mobile platforms, and scaffolding. Roof sheets were hoisted on and off the roof with the use of a mobile crane.
The building has been refurbished to a very high standard and will be protected against the elements for many more years to come.
